Refunds & Purchase Policy
This document is complete in substance but still carries placeholders in square brackets for the registered entity, address and governing law. It has not yet been reviewed by a qualified lawyer in the relevant jurisdiction, and it is not legal advice.
In short: One Audit Credit costs $149.99 and buys one audit of one app on one platform. Apple is the merchant of record: Apple takes your money, issues your invoice, handles VAT and decides refunds — we cannot issue one directly. A credit is consumed on delivery of your report, not on upload, so a run we fail to complete costs you nothing. If we cannot open your build, the retry is free. If we miss the 48-hour target, you get a bonus credit automatically.
1. What you are buying
An Audit Credit (dev.accessproof.credit,
$149.99) is a consumable in-app purchase. One credit entitles you to one
audit of one application on one platform, delivered as one report, on the
terms in the Terms of Service.
Credits do not expire, have no cash value, cannot be transferred or exchanged between people or devices, and are not a stored-value instrument, a voucher or a currency. Buying ten credits is buying ten audits, not depositing money with us.
2. Apple is the seller
Your contract of sale is with Apple, not with us. The Mac App Store is the merchant of record: Apple charges your payment method, issues your receipt and invoice, and collects and remits VAT and sales tax where applicable. We never see your card details, your billing address or your name.
The consequence is unavoidable and we would rather you learn it here than in a support thread: we cannot issue a refund. We have no mechanism to return money Apple collected. What we can do — and commit to below — is make sure you are not charged for work we did not deliver, and restore your balance correctly when Apple does refund you.
3. When a credit is actually consumed
A credit is deducted when your report is delivered — not when you upload, not when the job is queued, not when the run starts.
This is the single most important line on this page, because it means the failure modes that are our fault are free by construction rather than by goodwill:
- The run crashes, the machine dies, or the queue loses the job — no credit is consumed.
- We cannot install or launch your build — no credit is consumed, and you may re-upload a corrected build within the 72-hour retry window at no cost.
- The audit finishes and a report is delivered — the credit is consumed, including when the report contains few findings. You are paying for the audit, not for a quota of problems.
4. Free retries
If a run fails for a reason on our side, or because the build could not be opened, we hold it for 72 hours so you can correct and resubmit without spending anything. After that window the build is deleted under the retention rules and a resubmission is a fresh upload — still against the same unconsumed credit.
5. If we are late
The 48-hour figure is a target, not a guarantee, and the Terms define exactly when the clock starts and stops (Terms, section 8). What we commit to is the remedy:
If we deliver later than the 48-hour target, you receive a bonus credit automatically — you do not have to ask, and you do not have to prove anything. If you would rather not wait at all, you may withdraw the audit before it is delivered and your credit is returned to your balance unconsumed after 7 days.
The bonus credit is the whole remedy for lateness. A late report does not create a right to damages, to compensation for a missed deadline of your own, or to a cash refund from us. We price a single audit at $149.99; we cannot underwrite your project schedule at that price and would be lying if we implied otherwise.
6. How to actually request a refund
Refund requests go to Apple:
- Go to reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with the Apple Account used for the purchase.
- Find the AccessProof purchase and choose the option that describes your situation.
- Apple reviews it and decides. Apple's decision is Apple's; we are not consulted and cannot overturn it either way.
You can also request through the App Store app, or by contacting Apple Support directly. Apple's own terms and its stated timeframes govern that process.
Tell us too, at info@accessproof.dev, if the reason is something we did. We will not be able to move Apple, but we will be able to fix the cause — and if the problem was a wrong or unreproducible finding, Terms section 14 gives you a correction and, where the error was material, a credit.
7. What happens on our side when Apple refunds you
Apple notifies us of refunds. When we receive that notification:
- If the credit was unspent, we remove it from your balance. You were refunded for it; keeping it would be being paid twice.
- If the credit was already spent and a report was delivered, the balance is adjusted accordingly and may go to zero. The report you already have is yours to keep — we cannot claw back a PDF and will not try.
- Repeatedly obtaining refunds for audits that were delivered is abuse of the mechanism, and we may decline further service. We will say so directly before doing it.
8. EU and UK right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK, you have a statutory right to withdraw from a distance contract for digital content within 14 days. Because Apple is the seller, that right is exercised against Apple through the process in section 6.
Note how it interacts with digital content: where supply begins immediately with your express consent and your acknowledgement that you thereby lose the withdrawal right, the right is lost for the part performed. In practice, a credit you have not yet spent is far easier to withdraw from than an audit we have already run.
None of this applies where you buy as a business. If you are buying for a company, you are not a consumer and the withdrawal right does not arise.
9. If you are a business customer
Business purchases are final except as set out in this policy — in particular, section 3 means you are not charged for undelivered work, and section 5 gives you the delay remedy. There is no general right to change your mind after a report has been delivered.
Apple issues the invoice and handles VAT as merchant of record. If you need a VAT invoice for reclaim purposes, it comes from Apple, not from us; your Apple purchase history is the document your finance team needs. We can confirm what a given transaction ID bought, but we cannot issue a tax document for a sale we were not party to.
10. Chargebacks
Please use section 6 before disputing a charge with your bank. A chargeback against an App Store purchase is resolved between you, your bank and Apple; it can result in Apple restricting your Apple Account, which is a worse outcome for you than a refund would have been. Where a chargeback removes payment for credits, we adjust the balance as in section 7.
11. Price and price changes
The current price is $149.99 per credit, plus any tax Apple applies in your territory. We may change the price of future purchases; a change never affects a credit you have already bought, and never affects the report you are owed for a credit already spent. The Terms in force when a credit was spent govern that audit.
Subscription tiers shown as "planned" on the pricing page are not on sale. Nothing on this site charges you on a recurring basis today, and if that ever changes it will be a separate, explicit purchase — not a conversion of your credits.
12. If you think this policy was applied wrongly
Write to info@accessproof.dev with your Apple transaction ID and the audit ID. We aim to answer within 3 business days. If we got it wrong, we will say so and fix the balance. Unresolved disputes follow Terms section 22, including the 30-day pre-action notice — which exists so that a disagreement about $149.99 does not become a legal matter before either of us has actually tried to talk.
